The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence, writings, biographical and research materials of Illia Vytanovych. The writings contain some entries to the pre-war Encyclopedia of Ukraine as well as the Chronicals of the Shevchenko Scientific Society and biographical entries of the Ukrianian Academy of Arts and Sciences (UVAN) members.

This collection documents the activities of Yara Arts Group (established in 1990 and based in New York City) and one of its founders, Virlana Tkacz (b. 1952). Yara Arts Group is a resident company at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club and has created over 40 theatrical works based on extensive research. The collection contains production and press materials for Yara's performances, puclications records, audio materials, Virlana Tkacz research materials, writings, and translations.
