Zadoretzky and Rybak family papers

Scope and Contents

This collection is composed of the papers of the Zadoretzky and Rybak families. A large portion of the collection consists of the papers of William Rybak, whose personal materials include photographs (including negatives and slides), educational records, military records and memorabilia, and a memorial book. Other materials from the Rybak family include writings by Olha Rybak, along with her diploma. The remainder of the collection is composed largely of the papers of Peter and Walter Zadoretsky, including photographs, correspondence, memorial ephemera, and genealogical notes. Notable materials include writings on Peter Zadoretsky, including a short autobiography, and a letter addressed to him from the White House. There is also a group of material dedicated to Taras Shevchenko, including a catalog of works and drawings, a concert program from the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Shevchenko's death, and a copy of "Shevchenko's Thoughts and Lyrics." Organizational materials include the Ukrainian Auxiliary Society of Relatives in NY bylaws, the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America documents, events brochures and ephemera, bylaws, and correspondence, as well as a program of the Sixth Congress of Americans of Ukrainian Descent. The collection also includes records related to local radio broadcasting, including records of the Ukrainian Radio Program in New York City, transcripts, and a cassette with a recording of the program. Writings by others include books, journal articles, newspaper clippings. Finally, there are Official Certificates of Registration in The American Immigrant Wall of Honor from The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island for Anna Zukowicz Bondar, Efim Peter Bondar, Sophie Fenchynsk, and Peter Zadoretzky.
