This collection contains photographs of Ukraine during World War II. Most have the stamp "Archiv der Bildstelle/Propaganda-Abteilung Ostland" on the reverse, and some have descriptive material in German.

Biographical / Historical

Ivan Kostiuk was a lawyer, community activist, and journalist. He was born on August 6, 1913, in Lviv, and died on March 28, 1985, in Trenton, New Jersey. He graduated from a branch of the Ukrainian Academic Gymnasium in Lviv in 1931 and earned a master's degree in law from Lviv University. He emigrated to Germany and later settled in Trenton, New Jersey, in 1949. There, he became actively involved in community and journalistic activities, serving as the head of the local branch of the Ukrainian Congress Committe of America, the local branch of the Plast scouting organization, and was an organizer of the "Cherche" lesiure community. Kostiuk contributed widely to the Ukrainian-language press in North America, particularly focusing on the life of the community in Trenton. Additionally, he served on the editorial board of the collection "Jubilee Book of the Ukrainian Academic Gymnasium in Lviv" (volume 1, 1978).
