Kost' Kysilevs'kyi papers
Scope and Contents
This collection documents the personal and professional life of Kost’ Kysilevs’kyi. Personal materials include correspondence, photographs, personal documents, notebooks, death and funeral records, financial records, biographical and autobiographical writings. Family materials include Anastasiia Kysilevs'ka correspondence and ID card, as well as Alexandra Kysilevs’ka-Tkacz’s photographs, student work, notebooks, ephemera, and correspondence with Iaroslav Tkacz and other members of the Tkacz family (mainly Zoriana and Virlana Tkacz).
Educational records document his work with the Shkil'na Rada (School Council) and as an educator at the Ukrainian School in Newark. These materials include correspondence, Ukrainian language pedagogy materials, reports, faculty rosters, class rosters, matura records, and other student records. The collection also contains materials related to the Universytet Ukrainoznavstva, Vechirni Osvitni Kursy, and Kysilevs’kyi’s private tutoring. Records from the Displaced Persons (DP) camp period document his service as director of the Bayreuth Gymnasium and his work with UVU. These materials include writings on the history of the Bayreuth Gymnasium, administrative records, Bayreuth reunion materials, student assignments, dialectology of students, and student records.
The collection also contains materials related to the Shevchenko Scientific Society, including correspondence, reports, philology section records, and event programs. Records of other organizations include a UNA commemorative book, UVU related materials and correspondence, Uchytel's'ka Hromada v Niu Iorku (Teacher’s Community of New York) records, bylaws, and correspondence, KoDUS-related materials and correspondence, and UCCA educational council correspondence and records. Writings by others include books, periodicals, theses, articles, and newspaper clippings.
The collection further includes ephemera, such as razor blades, an envelope containing hair, stamps, and halftone printing plates, as well as framed prints and hand-drawn maps.
