This collection is composed of the personal and professional materials of Taras Hunczak. Personal materials include Hunczak’s scrapbook, photographs, and correspondence, both with individuals and organizations (such as Svoboda and the Shevchenko Scientific Society). A large portion of the collection is dedicated to Hunczak’s scholarly research, including photocopies of archival documents and handwritten extracts from books and documents about Polish-German, Polish-Soviet, and Nazi-Soviet relations during the interwar period. Other research topics include Petliura, the region of Pidhaitsi, GULAG prisoners, Mikolaj Potock, Iaroslav Stets'ko, the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), and the Union for the Liberation of Ukraine (Spilky Vyzvolennia Ukrainy, SVU) political trial. The collection also contains materials related to the Galicia Division, including correspondence, military training documents, the official journal of the Governor of the Galicia District, materials related to SS volunteers under the Nazi army fighting against the Bolsheviks, reports on the evacuation of families and volunteers, and more. Audio/Visual materials include VHS tapes, cassettes, CDs, and DVDs of films, TV, conference and presentation recordings, and music. Finally, published materials by others include books, articles, newspaper clippings, maps, sheet music, and posters.
