Scope and Contents
This collection is composed of the personal and professional materials related to Olga Maryschyuk-Kandel and her family. Personal records include IDs, birth certificates, passports, marriage certificates, financial records, and genealogical materials. Other personal documents include Maryschuk’s correspondence, notebooks, address books, educational records from the Cooper Union, a resume, creative writings, and more. A significant portion of the collection is dedicated to Maryschuk’s professional career, including exhibition and gallery catalogs, portfolios, autograph books, and writings. Specific exhibitions include Marsyschuk's "New York City Rooftops" and "The Flower as Muse" by Maryschuk and others. The collection also contains artwork in various formats, including prints on sandpaper, woodcuts, sketches and drawings, photographs, and more. Also present is material in several A/V formats, including cassette tapes, CDs, and floppy discs. Finally, there are also published materials, such as journals, magazines, newspaper clippings, and books, some with inscriptions.

Biographical / Historical
Olga Maryschuk-Kandel is a graphic artist born in 1928 in Greenwich, CT. She graduated from Cooper Union and continued her studies at Pratt Institute, specializing in graphics. In 1971, she traveled to Kyiv and started studies at the Kyiv Art Institute, where she studied for a year and a half. Under the supervision of Vasyl' Kasian, she illustrated a children's edition of "Pan Kots'kyi." Maryschuk-Kandel worked as a curator and collaborated with Yara Arts Group and the Ukrainian Museum in New York. As an artist, she worked in different techniques, such as oil pastels of the botanical cycle, and monotypes, linocuts, and engravings, primarily focusing on depicting urban landscapes. She participated in around eight solo exhibitions in American venues, as well as two exhibitions in Ukraine. She also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including group exhibitions of the Association of Ukrainian Artists in America (Obiednannia Mysttsiv Ukraintsiv Ameryky) in New York.
