Scope and Contents

The collection contains correspondence of the Ukrainian Music Institute of America (UMIA), including that of Director Ihor Sonevytsky (1959–1961), the UMIA Board (1983–1994), and the Parents’ Association (Bat’kivskyi kruzhok) from the 1980s. It also includes UMIA administrative records, such as bulletins (1960–1961), newsletters, reports, notices, concert programs, student reports, diploma samples, and photographic materials. The collection further contains writings by and about individuals associated with the UMIA, including brief articles by Director Ihor Sonevytsky; articles and speeches by Oksana Luts’ky, head of the Parents’ Association; materials relating to Roman Savytsky, including a copy of his work Fundamentals of Piano Pedagogy; and a publication commemorating the tenth anniversary of the UMIA. Additional materials include newspaper clippings about the UMIA, lists of pedagogical literature, and caroling lists.
