Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Watercolor caricatures and pen drawings depicting dance life in the internment camps of the 1920s in Poland. All drawings are accompanied by text. Drawings by Oleksander Karpenko relate to the Polish camp in Kalisz in 1921; most works are signed. There are several watercolors and pen drawings pertaining to Chełm and Włodawa by an unidentified author that might have been done by Karpenko. Additionally, there is a watercolor by Roman Brzheskyi (or Boreskyi), inscribed and dated 1923 and one drawing with an illegible signature.
